A letter went out to parents on Friday informing them of the situation and within days, a further letter about another case has gone out.

In the latest letter sent out to parents today (Tuesday) and seen by the Northants Telegraph, headteacher Jill Silverthorne said: "You will recall that we sent a letter last Friday with regard to a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.

"We have since been informed of a further case in a different ‘bubble’.

"The information sent last Friday pertains to this case too.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England, who have asked me to reiterate those messages.

"The small number of students who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have been contacted and the necessary arrangements made.

"The school remains open and your child/ren should attend as normal if they remain well."

Last month, the Headlands secondary school was one of several to notify parents of a positive result just two weeks into the start of the academic year.
