A care home has raised £2,000 for an appeal to bring a Rushden man back to the town after he developed cancer while living in Thailand.

Staff at Victoria House care home in Victoria Road, Rushden, many of whom knew him personally, held a virtual raffle and tombola in aid of Daniel Brawn, who is being treated for cancer in Thailand.

The event raised more than £2,000, which has been gifted to friends of Daniel who have set up a Just Giving page.

They are closing in on their target fundraising total of £17,500, which would be enough money for Daniel to have the life-saving treatment and return safely to the UK.

Michelle Collis, administrator at Victoria House care home, which is run by Shaw healthcare, said: “I cannot thank the public enough for their support.

"To raise £2,000 from a raffle is nothing short of amazing.

"We hope that our virtual event has helped Daniel’s family and friends with their fundraising totals, and that we can see Daniel in person once he has returned and recovered from his horrendous illness.”
