The competition is designed to give students completing A-Levels or equivalent the opportunity to develop skills they need to become the commercial lawyers of the future.

Students were asked to answer a question on innovation through a 500-word essay – submitted topics ranged from Big Data and contactless payments to climate change and social media.

20 students from across the UK were then selected to take part in the virtual grand final.

During the rigorous two-day remote event, the students participated in numerous interactive sessions which culminated in a video presentation providing more detailed information from their original mini-essay.

Co-Principal Mr Mitchell said: "This is an incredible achievement and is not achieved without hard work, dedication and focus.

"Masuma has been an exceptional and hardworking Hatton student throughout her time with us.

"We are delighted that Masuma has won this national, prestigious competition which will benefit her future greatly, whilst also enhancing the opportunities of her fellow Hatton students through the £5,000 award to the school.
