Ribbon cut to open Kettering school's new outdoor area

The ribbon is cut at the official opening ceremony.

Youngsters at a Kettering school have more play equipment and a sandpit after the ribbon was cut on their new outdoor area.

Kettering mayor Cllr Scott Edwards officially opened the new early years outdoor area at Kettering Buccleuch Academy as their youngest pupils returned to school after the half-term break.

Basking in the June sunshine, the children gave the mayor a tour of the new area and showed him how much fun they are having playing with the equipment.

The new area, funded by academy trust United Learning, will provide more opportunities.

Dino Di Salvo, principal of Kettering Buccleuch Academy, said: "It is an absolute joy to see the children making full use of the new outdoor area which provides a safe, fun and exciting place for them to play and learn.

"The area has undergone a huge transformation and we are very grateful to United Learning as well as Timotay Playscapes who have turned our dreams into reality.

"The outdoors present so many opportunities for our children to learn and develop.

"We therefore thought very carefully about how we could tie the area into the early years framework and it is great to see how much the children are already benefiting from this fantastic space."
