Pytchley Endowed C.E Primary School is celebrating the launch of its brand-new Forest School

Pupils and staff at Pytchley Endowed C.E Primary School, part of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET), have been making the most of a fantastic brand-new Forest School space since it was launched at the beginning of the school year.
Funded by the local Aylworth Trust Charity, existing school grounds were transformed and now feature a mud kitchen, sensory path, pond, wildlife zone and exploration spaces that bring learning to life and allow pupils regular access to nature without leaving the school grounds.
Further support from the school’s dedicated Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) has ensured the Forest School is fully resourced and ready for use. The PTFA successfully applied for additional funding, sourced equipment for outdoor learning and coordinated the delivery of 15 saplings that will grow into a thriving woodland area.
Ashley Scott, Executive Headteacher at Pytchley, said: “We are incredibly proud of our new Forest School and deeply grateful to both the Aylworth Trust Charity and our wonderful PTFA for bringing this vision to life.

“It sits beautifully alongside our new Spiritual Garden, opened recently by Bishop Debbie of Peterborough, creating an incredible outdoor space for our pupils. Local villagers have already commented on how interesting and inviting the area looks, and we couldn’t agree more.
“Outdoor learning is a powerful tool for children and it’s a fantastic addition to our school and something the whole community can be proud of.”
The Forest School space is also available for use by local community groups, with the school encouraging anyone interested to get in touch.
Ruth Walker-Green, CEO of PDET, added: “This project is a shining example of what can be achieved when communities work together.

“Pytchley’s Forest School is already offering rich learning experiences which will be enjoyed for years to come.”
In the spirit of community celebration, Pytchley CE Primary School and its PTFA are inviting everyone in the local area to join them at their upcoming Christmas Fair on Thursday 5th December 2025, 3:00pm – 5:30pm.
Visitors will have the chance to enjoy festive activities, meet staff and PTFA members and explore the school’s new outdoor developments. Everybody is welcome!
