Millbrook Junior School STEM Workshops

This week, Millbrook Junior School children have been fortunate enough to experience STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Workshops which were delivered by Hyett Education.
Millbrook Junior School’s Computing Lead, Abigail Claypole, invited Hyett Education to deliver STEM workshops for the whole school to promote the importance of STEM and engage the children further into the Computing curriculum. Each year group had a tailored session to suit their age range. Year 3 and 4 facilitated a ‘Beginner STEMbotics’ session, Year 5 engaged with the ‘Intermediate STEMbotics’ session and Year 6 supported a ‘STEMdrones’ experience.
Hyett Education provided all of the equipment that the children required to be able to engage with this exciting experience. The children have reported that they really enjoyed the experience.
This opportunity would not have been possible without the generous donation from the ‘Kettering Old Grammar School Foundation’, funding from ‘Defence Nuclear Enterprise’ and the parents/carers of our children at Millbrook Junior School.
This has been an invaluable experience for the children and it is clear that this has sparked some curiosity and determination for the future.
