Malcolm Arnold Academy schools celebrate Christmas in song

Senior and primary school students from Malcolm Arnold Academy and Malcolm Arnold Prep School, both in the David Ross Education Trust, came together to perform festive music and carols this week at St Matthews Church in Northampton.
The Year 7 Carol Service was led by Reverend Canon Nicholas Setterfield and Reverend Alison Wagner, the School Chaplain at Malcolm Arnold Academy. Year 5 pupils from Malcolm Arnold Prep School also joined in the festive performance, along with family members, to listen to music and carols performed by students at Malcolm Arnold Academy.
The Year 7 students had rehearsed four carols, and sang them confidently and beautifully to the audience in church. Many family members also came to hear carols and remarked on how well behaved and brilliantly the students sang.
Malcolm Arnold Academy School Choir and Malcolm Arnold Academy Chamber Choir also sang carols, joined by the rest of the students, with student musicians accompanying the carols.

Clare Berry, Principal at Malcolm Arnold Academy said: "We enjoyed a festive and joyous carol service. Year 7 were impeccable, and their singing filled the church. The choirs were amazing, with my particular highlight being the carol 'Riu, riu, chiu' which was sung by the Chamber choir. A lovely way to spend the morning. Thank you to all the staff and students involved for making the morning so special."
Simon Rose, CEO of David Ross Education Trust said: “I am delighted that our students have celebrated Christmas with a festive carol service, and that our primary school children were able to join the senior school.
“Our mission at DRET is to give our pupils a world class education alongside brilliant enrichment opportunities, in sport, music, art and outdoor activities, and I am so pleased so many of our musicians shared their talents at this festive gathering.”
