Staff at a Kettering school were presented with thank you gifts from grateful parents when they returned to school last week.

Parents of children at Kettering Buccleuch Academy joined forces to organise a collection to thank staff for the support and guidance they gave to students throughout the lockdown.

Led by Trina Jones and her daughter Emily, and with the help of Lucy Burkinshaw, Gabby Morley and the Friends of KBA group, the community raised money to buy each member of staff a purple water bottle or travel mug, as well as a pen.

Each of the gifts were emblazoned with the words ‘Thank you for your support – From the KBA community’ and were presented to staff when they returned to school.

Kettering Buccleuch Academy principal Dino Di Salvo said: “I would like to thank our amazing and supportive parents for such a generous gesture as we start the new term. We have a brilliant team of staff here at KBA and I know everyone is extremely humbled to have received these gifts.

“Whilst we successfully delivered online learning throughout the lockdown period, it’s fantastic to be welcoming our students back into the classroom, particularly our new Year 7s. As always, our top priority is the safety of our students and staff so we’ve made some key changes to ensure the school environment is as safe and secure as possible.

“With the continued support of our parents, governors and the wider community, we are all looking forward to a positive year ahead.”

In a message to staff Trina said: “You are all superstars going above and beyond to keep our KBA community connected, safe and indeed entertained during lockdown.”
