The Corby company bringing extra fun to lockdown lessons

While most children are spending the lockdown at home, the children of hundreds of critical workers in Corby are still arriving at school every day - including during the school holidays.

And one Corby firm has been making sure they enjoy their days with fun activities instead of traditional lessons.

During the coronavirus crisis, the government has asked schools to provide childcare for the youngsters of those providing vital functions.

CSD Activity Camps stepped in at Greenwood Academies Trust schools across the town to support their pupils who still had to go to school during the Easter holidays.

Working with other neighbouring organisations including Premier Education and Pacesetters CSD were tasked with ensure children had safe and enjoyable activities to take part in.

CSD’s core values of LAF (Learning, Achievement and Fun) were tied into an Easter theme, and allowed the children to have the opportunity to learn basic cooking techniques such as how to make a sponge cake and the importance of healthy eating habits.

Children were split into groups of similar age to work together on exciting treasure hunts and obstacle courses

Every Friday was showcase time, when children demonstrated what they made or learned during their time. Some children showed off their junk model creations, others displayed their football skills and others put together their own dance routines.

Studfall Academy principal Kim Kirchin said: “It is really important to us that our pupils are able to enjoy their time in school, even if it’s not a typical school day. We are pleased to be able to give our pupils the chance to take part in the wealth of activities CSD Activity Camps has been able to offer.”
