Slimming World Members Rally Together to Support Local Hygiene Bank
Members of the Slimming World groups in Desborough, Mkt Harborough and Kibworth have shown that their commitment to community wellbeing goes far beyond weight loss. The groups recently came together to donate a generous collection of toiletries to the local Hygiene Bank, offering vital support to individuals and families facing hygiene poverty.
The initiative was sparked by requests from the local food bank, which highlighted an urgent need for toiletries alongside food donations. As members learned more about the growing number of families struggling to afford everyday hygiene essentials, the idea of a toiletries drive quickly gained momentum. Within days, baskets at group sessions were overflowing with donations.
The collection included shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary products, baby wipes, and other essential items—simple things that many people take for granted but which can make a profound difference to someone’s dignity, confidence, and comfort.
The Hygiene Bank in works quietly but powerfully behind the scenes, distributing donated items to local charities, schools, refuges, and community organisations. Their mission is simple: to ensure that no one in the community has to choose between food and feeling clean. The contribution from Slimming World members will help the charity continue its work at a time when demand is higher than ever.
Slimming World Consultant Angela Walker said:
“I’m incredibly proud of our members. Slimming World is all about support—supporting each other, supporting healthier habits, and supporting our wider community. Our members have such big hearts, and this donation shows just how much they care.”
Members echoed this sentiment, expressing how rewarding it felt to be part of something that makes a tangible difference. Many said they were inspired to continue donating regularly and to encourage others in the community to do the same.
The Hygiene Bank has expressed heartfelt thanks for the donation, noting that community-led efforts like this are essential to keeping their shelves stocked and their services running.
As the Slimming World groups continue their journeys toward healthier, happier lives, they’re proving that positive change doesn’t stop at the scales. Their generosity is helping to lift up the whole community—one bottle, bar, and bundle at a time.
