David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to Bemorefab Children’s Cancer Charity, helping the charity continue its vital work of supporting children, families and schools through the challenges of childhood cancer.

The charity believes that no child should feel alone on this journey, and provides comfort, education, and practical assistance to those affected. Beyond supporting children and families, it is committed to raising awareness of childhood cancer within the wider community.

Kelly Church, Office & Development Manager at Bemorefab Children’s Cancer Charity, said: “It meant so much to us when David Wilson Homes reached out about this donation. It wasn’t just the donation but the feeling of being seen and believed in.

“As a small charity, we pour our hearts into supporting children and families and knowing that a company of this size has chosen to stand alongside us is incredibly moving.

“We are truly grateful to David Wilson Homes and want to say a huge thank you because this support carries a message to the families we serve that the community recognises their struggles and wants to help."

Bemorefab Children’s Cancer Charity was created after the founders’ daughter, Florence, was diagnosed with leukaemia in May 2022. Florence’s treatment journey was incredibly challenging but her remarkable positivity became a source of inspiration.

To help others feel less afraid of hospital life, her family began sharing her journey on TikTok, where her joyful spirit resonated with hundreds of thousands of followers. In recognition of her courage and impact, she received a Pride of Britain Award in October 2024.

Driven by personal experience, the charity now focuses on ensuring that children with cancer can stay connected to learning, friendships, and support throughout treatment. Its work includes delivering one-to-one and small-group education sessions for children who are missing school, providing emotional and practical support for families, and offering guidance to schools to help children reintegrate confidently.

Alongside this, it also raises awareness of bone marrow, blood, and organ donation through visits to sixth forms and universities, empowering young people to make informed, lifesaving decisions. Together, these efforts offer hope, stability, and kindness to children and families navigating the toughest of challenges.

David Wilson Homes’ donation was made through its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.

Ben Kalus, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We hope that our support for Bemorefab Children’s Cancer Charity inspires others to get involved. Childhood cancer is a challenge no family should face alone and through donations like this we can help ensure that support networks remain strong and resilient.”

The donation of £1,500 will go towards education support for children who are missing school because of cancer treatment. This means helping provide one-to-one tuition, small-group learning, and the personalised support that keeps children connected to their education, friendships and confidence during an unimaginably difficult time.
