A care home in Kettering organised a gift collection to support a local hospital.

Employees at Thorndale Care Home came together to organise a collection of gifts for patients on Skylark Children’s Ward at Kettering General Hospital.

The initiative saw team members donate a wide range of items for babies, children and teenagers, including toys, games, craft activities, cosy essentials and toiletries. The collection was delivered to the ward on December 22, helping to bring comfort and cheer to young patients and their families during a challenging time.

Heidi Brown, Service Manager at Thorndale Care Home, said: “Our team wanted to do something meaningful that would make a real difference locally. Seeing everyone pull together to support the children on Skylark Ward was great to see. We hope the gifts brought a smile to the children and helped make their hospital stay a little brighter.”

Those working at Thorndale also shared their thanks with the Skylark Ward team for the vital work they do supporting children and families across the Kettering area and plan to continue to support them throughout 2026.

Thorndale care home is operated by Shaw healthcare in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council. Shaw is the largest employee-owned care provider in the UK.
