Healthy hearts event hosted at Elm Bank care home

Residents and staff at Elm Bank care home in Kettering enjoyed and afternoon learning about the importance of maintaining a healthy heart.
The chef’s prepared a wonderful selection of healthy foods, from nuts to seeds and all things green. The table was a rainbow of colour, foods that allowed for residents to understand the importance of maintaining a healthy heart. Louise Ramage the homes Community Relationship Manager ran the event and provided the residents with a fun and educational afternoon of fun. The residents also learnt the importance of exercise to maintain a healthy life. It was an engaging afternoon that allowed for many questions and useful knowledge shared. Residents also shared their stories from days gone by on how healthy food was very difficult to get hold of during the war and when rationing was in place.
Activities Co-ordinator, Tina said: “It was such a great event that was delivered in a way that was fun but very informative for all. Residents reminisced on their own food stories from the war and it was interesting to hear how the food we take for granted was not easily available back then.”
General Manager, Larisa Bledea, said: “It was a fantastic afternoon for all, the residents learnt so much from Louise who delivered a wonderful fun and educational event for all. It was also an opportunity for our residents to sample new foods and refreshing juices as well as seeds and nuts. It was an opportunity for residents to also put across ideas for new foods that that they want to try.”
