Corby slimmers spread festive cheer with selection box donations to local foodbank

Members of Corby West Glebe Pavilion Slimming World have shown that the spirit of giving is alive and well this Christmas, collecting selection boxes and advent calendars to donate to Corby Food Bank. Their thoughtful initiative ensures that local families facing hardship can enjoy a little extra joy during the festive season.
The collection drive was organised by the groups as part of their commitment to supporting the wider community. While Slimming World is best known for helping members achieve healthier lifestyles, the Corby West Glebe Pavilion groups have demonstrated that their values extend far beyond weight loss. By rallying together, members have combined their personal journeys with a shared sense of community.
“Christmas can be a difficult time for many families, and we wanted to do something that would bring smiles to children’s faces,” said Sonia Mathieson, Consultant for Corby West Glebe Pavilion Slimming World. “Our members have been incredible, showing that small acts of giving can make a big difference. ”
Corby Food Bank welcomed the donations, noting that festive treats like advent calendars and selection boxes are especially meaningful for children. These items not only provide a sense of celebration but also remind families that their community cares.
“We are so grateful to the Slimming World members for their generosity,” said Jane Sheldon. “Donations like these help us bring a little magic to families who might otherwise go without.”
The initiative reflects Slimming World’s ethos of support, encouragement, and community spirit. By combining their focus on health with acts of kindness, the Corby West Glebe Pavilion group continues to inspire both inside and outside their sessions.
