Corby is throwing its hat into the ring for one of the most exciting cultural competitions in the UK — and a passionate team of local voices is leading the charge.

A group of community leaders, creatives and representatives have come together to submit an application for the inaugural UK Town of Culture competition, which will crown one winning town and award £3 million to deliver a landmark cultural programme in 2028. Two further finalists will each receive £250,000 to bring significant elements of their bid to life.

The Corby bid team — which includes MP Lee Barron, local town councillors, representatives from the arts, leaders from Corby’s theatre community, members of the heritage team and the Love Corby team — met recently to begin shaping what promises to be a compelling case for why Corby deserves its moment on the national stage.

Because Corby has a story worth telling. A town shaped by steel, by migration, by resilience and by reinvention — with a creative community that punches well above its weight and a spirit that is entirely its own.

The application must be submitted by 31st March 2026, and the team are calling on the community to get behind it.
