Big laughs, big hearts: Stand Up for Cransley raises £3,100
There wasn’t a dull moment at ‘Stand Up For Cransley’ on Sunday 8th February at the Holiday Inn Corby as ticket holders were entertained by an incredible line up of some of the countries finest comedians. But it wasn’t only about the laughter – the evening raised a fantastic £3,100 for Cransley Hospice Trust which will make an amazing difference to local hospice care and services.
‘Stand Up For Cransley’ was hosted by the charismatic Alexandra Haddow, who returned to her home town of Corby – bringing her whip-smart observations on modern life, and some local banter to add into the mix! Alexandra was the perfect ringmaster for a night of cheekiness, warmth and fun.
Alexandra was joined on stage by Jamie Allerton, a regular favourite at London’s Top Secret Comedy Club, Jamie Finn, critically acclaimed musical comedian with a sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show and Eshaan Akbar, Star of Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, QI and Netflix’s Sex Education.
Ticket holders were treated to an evening of non-stop hilarity and feel-good fun that had everyone leaving knowing that they’d spent their Sunday evening in the best possible way. There was also a raffle held on the evening, thanks to the generous support of local businesses.
Feedback from those who attended has been glowing: “All acts were fantastic. The venue was spacious and not packed in. No criticism at all. My only regret was not inviting more people to come along. So next year I will ensure more people are aware it’s on!”

We feel very lucky that these four incredible comedians gave up their time to come to the Holiday Inn Corby and put on such a hilarious show for our lucky supporters. We couldn’t have done it without them!
“Raising £3,100 from the first year of the event has just been the icing on the cake of what was a very special evening! This fantastic sum of money could pay for over four whole days of specialist hospice care in our in-patient unit, relieving the pressure on families and supporting patients to make ‘every moment matter’ at the end of their lives.”
Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from ticket holders, volunteers and even the comedians themselves, ‘Stand Up For Cransley’ looks set to become an annual event for the charity.
