Jeyes of Earls Barton sold out of its new 'Northamptonshire sauce' while celebrating the new product and opening its new delicatessen.

The visitor centre and coffee shop launched the new sauce, developed from a family recipe dating back to 1835, live on BBC Radio Northampton on Friday (October 2).

All Saints Church vicar Jenny Ingram made the first purchase and wrote a poem to bless the sauce, made by Steve Reid from Friars Farm, based in Northampton.

The Hamm Tun Deli at Jeyes was officially opened the next day with a farmers' market in a marquee in the new Moongate Garden.

Gary and Rachael Bradshaw, from Hamm Tun Fine Foods in Long Buckby, who will run the deli, were on hand along with Steve.

Anna Jeyes-Hulme said: "Gary had samples of his Northamptonshire cheeses and homemade scotch eggs and sausage rolls.

"Racheal even made quail scotch eggs filled with Northamptonshire sauce which were delicious!

"The marquee in our moongate garden was filled with excited Northants supporters and they all loved the new sauce and deli.

"We completely sold out in two days so Steve is back in the kitchen preparing more!"
