Efforts to make Rushden High Street safe for shoppers and workers

A town council is working hard to support local businesses and make sure its High Street is safe for those working or shopping there.

Rushden Town Council is keen to support businesses as they re-open their doors following lockdown.

A council spokesman said: "As part of our continuing support for the phased re-opening of the High Street, we took our gazebo into town to distribute social distancing floor stickers and posters.

"The uptake from businesses was excellent and the response was encouraging.

"We will continue to monitor local authority and government advice, acting in accordance, on ways to help shops and businesses re-open safely, making the shopping experience better and safer for everyone."

The council's efforts include the installation of hand sanitising stations in the town at the following locations:

- Duck Street public toilets

- Newton Road public toilets

- Orchard Place car park (towards the entrance to the High Street from the car park)

- Sassy Belle shop front (along the High Street)

- Asda (the old Railway Bridge before the front entrance)
