A Rushden supermarket has confirmed it is relocating in Rushden and revealed the opening date for its new store.

Earlier this year, Iceland Foods Ltd submitted two applications relating to the former Store Twenty One in Rushden High Street.

The applications submitted to East Northants Council were for fascia and projecting signs to the front of the building as well as recolouring of the existing shopfront grey and installation of new bi-parting entrance doors and side screens.

Iceland, which already has a store in Eaton Walk, said in June that it would not be commenting on the planning application but added that if the move took place, the new store would open early in 2021.

Iceland Foods Ltd has now applied for a new premises licence for 48 High Street and the firm has confirmed to the Northants Telegraph that its Rushden store is on the move.

A spokesman for Iceland said: "We are planning to open our new Rushden store on 19 January 2021, this is a replacement for our existing store on the expiry of its lease."
