A new Aldi store will open in Kettering next week after it was demolished and rebuilt.

Workers have been constructing the new supermarket in Carina Road this year after Kettering Council approved plans to demolish the old store and the unit adjacent to it.

The German giant's new store will have 500 sq m more floorspace to end the days of a "cramped" shopping environment and the car park has also been reconfigured.

And it will finally open to shoppers at 8am next Thursday (October 15), creating 10 new jobs.

Store manager Adam Caffrey said: “We’re really looking forward to opening the new store here in Kettering.

"It’s set to be a great day and it’ll be lovely to welcome our new customers into the store and provide them with access to affordable, high quality food.”

It's the second new Aldi to open in Kettering in the space of five years. In 2015 they opened another store just off the town's Northfield Avenue.

The Carina Road supermarket will offer Aldi's usual products with the famous 'special buys' in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday.

The store will be open from 8am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Aldi is calling on local charities and food banks in Kettering to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to five days a week. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email [email protected].
