Movie fans can return to watching the latest releases on the big screen at Kettering's Odeon cinema when it re-opens next month.

The cinema giant has revealed it plans to open the multi-screen cinema in Pegasus Court on Monday, July 13, the third of five phased re-opening days for their UK sites.

It was closed in mid-March because of the Covid pandemic but is now set to open again after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced restrictions would be eased from July 4.

There will still be restrictions with limited seats on sale for each show and guaranteed unoccupied seats between guests to meet social distancing requirements, whilst enabling family groups and social bubbles to sit together.

Show start times will be staggered to reduce queues with newly-serviced air conditioning to ensure fresh air is delivered into all screens.

There will be more frequent cleaning routines with complimentary sanitising gels and wipes, with staff wearing PPE including face coverings and gloves.

The cinema will also offer a "contactless experience" with contactless payments and ticket checks with pre-packaged food and drink. People are urged to book tickets online.

Carol Welch, Odeon's managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: “We are excited to confirm that from July 4, our UK cinemas will begin re-opening.

"We’ve carefully planned every step of our guest journey and put safety measures in place that will enable our highly trained colleagues to provide a controlled and safer cinema experience for all our guests.

“New measures include social distancing in our auditoriums and foyers, additional cleaning regimes, and a request to book tickets online prior to arrival.

"We would like to thank our colleagues and guests for their patience during this period, and we can’t wait to welcome guests back to big screen entertainment and a safer cinema experience.”

Tickets for films at Odeon in Kettering are already on sale, with a mix of recent and re-mastered classics set to come to the big screen.

Cineworld has already announced it plans to open its UK cinemas, including at Rushden Lakes, on July 10.
