Negotiations are ongoing over the future of a store which is currently closed at Rushden Lakes.

The Accessorize store at the retail and leisure complex is shut and shoppers walking past will see very little in the unit apart from a few fixtures and fittings.

It comes after Monsoon Accessorize went into administration earlier this month before being bought by Adena Brands Ltd in a deal which also covers the retailer’s distribution centre at Wellingborough.

A sign on the shop door says: "At Accessorize, we put community first - our teams, our stores and our customers - and right now that is more important than ever.

"That's why we have made the decision to temporarily close all our UK and ROI stores to protect our communities."

While the future of the store looks ominous from the outside, bosses are hoping that the shop can re-open at some point.

A spokesman for Monsoon Accessorize told the Northants Telegraph: "We are in discussions with the landlord to agree a new lease and re-open."

The spokesman said they were 'hopeful' of announcing a re-opening date soon and added: "The staff are currently furloughed, and we anticipate the full team returning to work.

"We are excited about getting the store back up and running and welcoming back our customers."

A spokesman for Rushden Lakes said: "We are working closely with Accessorize to discuss their long-term plans for this store."
