The famous McDonald's golden arches have been put up near Burton Latimer as the fast food giant's new drive-thru starts to take shape.

Workers are currently on-site near the A6 roundabout, just off Junction 10 of the A14, with the drive-thru forming part of the Segro Park development.

Kettering Council gave the plan the green light earlier this year and the restaurant is expected to create between 65 and 100 jobs.

The golden arches have now been erected along with a sign saying the drive-thru will be open 24 hours a day.

A double drive-thru lane has already been constructed and groundwork on the restaurant has started.

Earlier this year a planning statement said the restaurant would be manufactured off-site and assembled on-site, estimating it would only take 14 weeks to complete once groundworks start.

But a McDonald's spokesman was unable to confirm when the drive-thru would be opening yet.

The spokesman said: “We are pleased to be progressing with our new restaurant near Burton Latimer, which will create at least 65 jobs and bring significant investment to the local area.”

The restaurant will have outdoor seating, a play frame and 44 car parking spaces.

Andrew Pilsworth, Segro’s business unit director in national logistics, said: “The McDonald’s restaurant and drive-thru will not only be a great food and drink service for those working at Segro Park Kettering, it will also create at least 65 jobs for the local community.

"Despite the ongoing global pandemic, progress at the site is going well with the first phase of this scheme already complete.”
