More details about when Finedon s new filling station and store will open have been revealed.

Planning permission for the new filling station and store at 35-45 Burton Road (A6) in Finedon was granted last August.

The site has been vacant for a number of years and plans are now progressing with its replacement, including the Co-op recently applying to install new signage.

Not only will the redevelopment plans see the vacant site brought back to life, but it will also create a number of jobs for the area.

A spokesman for the Co-operative Group told the Northants Telegraph: "We’re pleased to confirm plans to open our Finedon filling station and store in September 2021, which will support up to 10 new jobs locally."

The spokesman said more details about what products and services the new store will be offering will be confirmed nearer the time.

But the applicant told this newspaper last year that the new service station will feature six pump lanes and a Co-op store selling a range of groceries, ready meals, sandwiches and snacks, beers, wines and spirits and a range of fresh fruit and vegetables.

There has been a filling station and car showroom on the site as far back as 1959.

The new Co-op store will be the town's second site as it already has a branch in Wellingborough Road, Finedon.
