A big thank you to the businesses which have kept Higham Ferrers going through lockdown

These shops and services have all played their part during the pandemic and continue to do so

These businesses have helped keep Higham Ferrers going during lockdown.

And their efforts haven't gone unnoticed with the town mayor Cllr Christina Reavey making special visits to thank each of them personally in recent weeks.

Whether you have needed fresh fruit, meat, bread, a prescription or even ice-cream, they have been open and ready to help where they can.

A spokesman for Higham Ferrers Town Council said: "The town council has recently carried out the first step in a campaign to say a big thank you to all those essential workers that have kept Higham Ferrers going throughout the lockdown so far, and to welcome back our newly re-opening shops to the high street and surrounding areas.

"The mayor, Cllr Christina Reavey, visited businesses to personally pass on her thanks, on behalf of the town council and the people of Higham Ferrers, for their hard work and dedication over a difficult time.

"We have seen such a wonderful sense of community and caring in Higham Ferrers over the last few months, and we have no doubt it will continue.

"The pictures and campaign posts can be viewed on the town council Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/HighamFerrersTC and we hope to continue the thank you campaign with further visits over the coming weeks."

The next stage will be visits to businesses that have just re-opened to welcome them back to the high street.
