I often tell people about the dedication and hard work put in by everyone at Wicksteed Park, whether they be full-time, part-time or volunteers.

If it wasn’t for their efforts “above and beyond” then the park would not be such a fantastic place to visit.

It is therefore incredibly pleasing to see that endeavour being recognised at the highest level by national tourist board VisitEngland, which has praised Wicksteed Park for providing a highly enjoyable and memorable family day out following an assessment visit a couple of months ago.

Awarding the park a score of 84%, VisitEngland said the attraction remains a well-established and much-loved visitor attraction, offering an excellent balance of traditional family entertainment, expansive green space, and historical significance.

The inspector’s report said the park had improved still further since its score of 81% at its last assessment in June 2024.

The inspector added: “The site demonstrates a clear commitment to maintaining strong operational standards across all areas, supported by friendly, professional staff who contribute positively to the overall visitor experience.

“Congratulations to the entire team on delivering another enjoyable visitor experience.”

Notable progress was recorded in several key areas, including Arrival (from 70% to 80%), Attraction (from 70% to 75%), Cleanliness (from 76% to 80%), Catering (from 76% to 80%) and Retail (from 80% to 85%).

The hard work I’ve mentioned means we have a number of exciting events lined up for the start of the year.

You can join us from 1pm until 3pm on January 31 for Art in the Park, a free session made possible by funding from Kettering Cultural Consortium, which uses dance and rhythm in a way that’s accessible, inclusive, and confidence-building for all young people

Join us for half-term from February 14 to February 22 for Go Wild at Wicksteed with ZooLab, which will be open 10:30am-4pm each day.

Meet fascinating creatures, including snakes, spiders, and snails and discover incredible facts, as well as enjoying some of our most popular rides and attractions.

The Utterly Revolting Science show is also coming to Wicksteed Park on February 19 at 11:30am and 3pm, providing a hilarious journey through the human body, packed with burp biology, fart physics and revolting edible chemistry.

Elevation Wrestling is also hosting Showdown in the Park on February 20 for shows at 11am and 3pm.

Ticketing information for all events is on our website.
