Thrapston Amateur Dramatic Society Strips Back the Stigma with Calendar Girls for Charity

Thrapston Amateur Dramatic Society (TADS) are currently in rehearsals for their Spring Production, and everyone is going to be needing considerably bigger buns!
Most people will be familiar with Calendar Girls, the story of the Yorkshire Women’s Institute who decided to create and sell a nude calendar to raise money for the cancer ward of Skipton General Hospital. This is a play that TADS have been wanting to put on for many years, however only now have we found the courage to bare all and raise money for charity!
It is a story that resonates strongly within the society. Many of our members have been affected by cancer, either surviving or supporting loved ones through the disease, with one of our members losing his battle to cancer 6 years ago - the anniversary of this falling within our production week. Because of this, the society has decided to donate all the net profits from the production to charity, splitting them between Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Cransley Hospice and Macmillan Nurses.
It is also particularly important for TADS to do a big production this year as we are celebrating 30 years of performing in the Thrapston Plaza, and are also celebrating one of our members, Hazel Wright who is playing Chris in our upcoming production, being with the society 30 years.
Calendar Girls is being directed by Dean Baylis and will be performed between May 13th and May 16th at Thrapston Plaza. Tickets are available now from our website: tadstrapston.org.uk/tickets
