The Strypes: the band the big acts love come to Northampton

Since forming in 2011, the band comprising of lead singer and harmonica player Ross Farrelly, lead guitarist Josh McClorey, bassist Peter O’Hanlon and drummer Evan Walsh have played with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Noel Gallagher, toured with Arctic Monkeys and seen their debut album Snapshot go top 10 in the process.

Their fast-paced, gritty, rhythm and blues sound is influenced by the likes of Dr Feelgood, The Yardbirds and Chuck Berry.

The Strypes’ 2014 EP 4 Track Mind coincided with their biggest UK tour, an NME Awards Show and gigs across the world.

Hailing from Caven in Ireland, The Strypes’ days of gigging in a converted disabled access van eventually got them noticed.

They landed slots on The Late, Late Show, they started touring overseas and – thanks to their snappy dressing – they caught the attention of A&R from Elton John’s management company.

Following this UK tour, the band will join up with Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chiefs and other bands at Slane Castle on May 30.

The Strypes headline the Northampton venue on Thursday, May 7.

Tickets are also on sale for US hardcore act Beartooth who headline the Northampton venue on Wednesday, May 20.

Their critically acclaimed debut album Disgusting was released last year. Support is by The Color Morale and Dead Harts. Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets cost £9.
