A new community wellbeing centre and charity shop, Snapdragon and Bop CIC, has officially opened its doors and is inviting the community to its Christmas Event on Saturday, 13 December, at 254–256 Bath Road, Kettering NN16 9LX

The centre, founded by Maxine Lockley and George Spikesley—who are also part of Triangular Care Home Support—aims to support vulnerable, elderly, and isolated residents by offering a safe, welcoming environment where individuals can build friendships, explore new activities, and find a sense of belonging. The venue will host a variety of facilities, including a rescue, recycle and reuse store, a community café, creative craft groups, a sensory and relaxation area, and an indoor garden room designed for year-round gardening.

Snapdragon and Bop is also proud to be part of the North Northamptonshire Council Warm Spaces Scheme, ensuring that those in need have access to a safe and comfortable place during the colder months.

Co-founder Maxine Lockley highlighted the importance of the initiative in serving the local community. “Our goal is to offer a place where people can socialise, express themselves, or simply find comfort and respite,” she said. “We want every visitor to feel valued and connected.”

Snapdragon and Bop will host a public Christmas Event featuring a Craft Fair from 11am to 5pm, showcasing a range of unique handmade creations from local artisans. Families can also enjoy a special visit from Santa Claus between 12pm and 3pm, with a £5 entry fee for those wishing to meet him in his festive chair.

During the event, the team will recognise Kettering Town Council for its ongoing support and for awarding a grant that played a key role in bringing the project to life. A special guest appearance is also anticipated on the day.

The founders are encouraging local media outlets and community members to help raise awareness. “Any coverage or support would make a tremendous difference,” added Lockley. “Our mission is to uplift the community, and awareness is key to reaching those who need us most.”

Snapdragon and Bop CIC hopes the event will mark the beginning of a long-lasting, positive impact in Kettering.
