New boxing & exercise class launching in Corby to support mental health and addiction recovery
A new community-focused boxing and exercise class called Billy’s Fitness is launching in Corby this month, aimed at supporting people who are struggling with mental health challenges and addiction.

Starting Saturday 28th March, the weekly sessions will run every Saturday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at The Chapel Gym in Corby, followed by a 30‑minute social drop‑in with free tea and coffee.
The class has been created to offer a safe, welcoming space where people of all abilities can build confidence, improve physical well‑being, and connect with others who understand similar struggles. With mental health issues and addiction affecting many in the local area, the founders hope the initiative will give people a positive routine and a sense of community.

Founder Alex Huxtable explains the motivation behind the project: “Our reason for doing this is that we’ve both lost friends and family to addiction and mental health issues. We want to give people of all abilities a place where they can move their bodies, clear their heads, and not feel judged. If this class can help even one person feel supported, it will make a real difference.”
Co‑founder Ross Quarrie adds: “We know how tough these challenges can be, and how alone people can feel. We’ve set this up to make sure the environment is relaxed, friendly and welcoming for everyone, regardless of fitness level or experience. Our hope is that this class becomes a positive space that genuinely helps people who need it.”
The sessions are open to absolutely all fitness levels, with no previous boxing experience required. All equipment is provided, and the emphasis is on participation, well‑being, and building confidence rather than performance.
