Music Barn 2026: A "Proper Festival Moment" for Northants as headliners and local talent unveiled

The Northamptonshire music calendar for 2026 has officially moved into high gear.
This week, the Music Barn Festival confirmed its most ambitious lineup to date, while local venues prepare for the nationwide celebration of Independent Venue Week (IVW), which kicks off this Monday.
The Big One: Music Barn 2026
The independent festival, held in the atmospheric ironstone quarry in Cranford, has secured house music legend Todd Terry and drum and bass titan High Contrast for its Saturday, June 6th edition.
For the first time, the festival will feature five distinct stages, each hosted by a brand synonymous with the regional scene. Kettering’s own Selecta returns to lead the drum and bass stage (The Silo), while Dance Till Dawn makes its debut hosting the house music stage (The Farmhouse).
Ticket Details
Current pricing for the event sees general entry early bird tickets starting at £32.90, with standard tiers rising toward £75 as the date approaches. For those looking to make a weekend of it, camping passes are available as an add-on from approximately £40, while the "House Proud" lounge offers a VIP experience for those wanting a bit more comfort in the quarry.
While global names draw the crowds, the "soul" of the 2026 season lies in the homegrown acts. This year features a particularly strong showing from regional favorites across multiple genres.
The Northampton-based punk powerhouse Thistle is expected to be a major draw following their recent lo-fi releases. They are joined on the broader 2026 circuit by Corby’s The Scenesters, who bring a high-energy indie-rock sound to the Music Barn main stage.
Other key artists to keep on your radar include the alt-soul stylings of Woegetter, who will be supporting VC Pines at The Black Prince on January 28, and the indie-focussed sounds of The Vandervalls. Fans of a more stripped-back aesthetic should look out for Hana Brooks, the Northants folk singer opening for Will Varley at the end of the month.
Independent Venue Week: The Winter Warm-up
Before the summer sun hits Cranford, the county's indoor venues are taking center stage. The Black Prince on Abington Square has emerged as the regional flagship for IVW 2026, running from January 26 to February 1.
Highlights of the week include a sold-out show from Birmingham’s The Clause on Friday night and a special "Alternative Soul" evening on Wednesday featuring London's VC Pines alongside local favorites Woegetter and The Vandervalls.
"This is more than just a series of gigs," says local promoter Alex D’Arcy.
"It's a declaration that Northamptonshire’s music scene is independent, thriving, and ready to compete with any major city in the UK."
