We are holding our third Learning Disability and Autism Charity Ball to support the department within Kettering General Hospital. It raises money for the department but also awareness. It creates a safe space and support for anyone impacted by it.

I started the annual charity ball in 2024 as my sister has learning disabilities and also physical disabilities.

Hospital visits can be stressful for anyone attending, but those with learning disabilities and/or autism it impacts them even more so.

The charity ball was to be a one-off event to hopefully raise a bit of awareness and some money for the department to access, but hearing the positive comments and how many wanted it to be an annual one, I decided to make the commitment.

Inside the charity ball

The charity ball last year really surprised me with what services and how many services there were available to the community and I wouldn't have known if I hadn't continued the event.

I think this is why events like these are so important, as it helps you realise what support there is and then gives you the opportunity to support through buying tickets to attend, raffle tickets and so on. It's also important to be reminded that you are not alone, and I believe the event does this.

If you are someone impacted by autism/learning disabilities or know anyone who is impacted by it, I would love for you to join us and help us sell all the tickets available to make this night the biggest it has been.
