Illuminate the Cransley Hospice Trust Tree of Lights in memory of a loved one
Cransley Hospice Trust are warmly inviting the local community to gather together once more for their much-loved Tree of Lights event.
This year’s service will be held outside the Cransley Hospice Trust Fundraising Office on the St Mary’s Hospital site in Kettering on Sunday 8th December 2024 at 6.30pm.
Sarah Caldwell, Community Fundraiser – Events at the charity commented: “We know that this time of year can be especially emotional, and the loss of a loved one can be felt more deeply at Christmas time. By coming together at the Tree of Lights service, we hope to bring our local community comfort in their grief, joy in their memories and to celebrate the value that hospice services bring to our community”.
This year, the Cransley Hospice Trust Tree of Lights focuses on the charities’ main message, “… Because every moment matters” and the Fundraising Team have had the pleasure of speaking to Lara Dorothy, a local supporter who heartbreakingly has first-hand experience of the importance of hospice care as they said goodbye to her Dad Neil in November 2023, with the support of the Hospice at Home service.

Lara told the charity, “... we were told he had three months left with us, but we actually had another four years!”
Due in part to the support provided by Cransley Hospice, the family were able to continue making memories together after Neil’s diagnosis and he had the intimate and dignified death at home, that he wished for.
The local community is encouraged to ‘illuminate the Tree of Lights’ by leaving a donation and making a dedication in memory of someone they love. By visiting cransleyhospicetrust.dedicationpage.org/treeoflights, supporters will be able to share special memories and photographs of someone who is no longer beside them as they support the essential work of Cransley Hospice Trust.
With ever increasing pressures on the charity, supporters are asked to consider making a donation of £20 or more, which could pay for an hour of care from a Hospice at Home nurse, enabling more patients, like Neil, to receive the care they need in the comfort of their own home. Anyone who is kindly able to donate £40 or more will also receive a beautiful ceramic heart keepsake, designed and made by talented local potter Louise Crookenden-Johnson.
Cransley Hospice Trust hope to see many members of the local community gather together at the Tree of Lights service on Sunday 8th December 2024 at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcomed, whether your family have received support from the hospice or not. The charity invites all faiths and backgrounds to come together in this poignant gathering to share our memories of loved ones, along with reflective song, music and readings.
