The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is heading back to Northampton on February 19 as part of the Royal & Derngate’s orchestral season for a matinee performance, entitled Russian Masters.
Conducted by Grzegorz Nowak, it will feature classics from a host of Russian composers including Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. It will open with Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor, followed by Rachmaninov’s sublime Piano Concerto No.2, performed by Ivana Gavric. Other classics will include Mussorgsky’s A Night on the Bare Mountain Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol and Khachaturian’s Adagio. It will close with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
The concert starts at 3pm with a pre-concert talk at 2pm, hosted by John Griff. Tickets cost from £16 to £35.
Next Friday, Liverpool born country sensation Nathan Carter (pictured below) headlines the venue. Carter is one of the most successful live acts across the Irish music scene with his performances of heart-felt, upbeat and infectious pop ballads. Since he burst onto the scene in 2009, he has released three number one selling albums in the Irish music charts and has captivated audiences all over Ireland, the UK and beyond. Expect a mix of country, Irish, pop and ballads. He headlines on Friday, February 24. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from £23.50. Booking fees apply for both shows.
