Desborough Town made no mistake as they maintained their lofty position in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division with a 4-0 success over rock-bottom Huntingdon Town.

Two goals in the space of one first-half minute put Ar Tarn in control at the Waterworks Field as Jason Turner gave them the lead before Will Arnold quickly made it 2-0.

Arnold put the final outcome beyond doubt with his second soon after the break and John Dean rounded things off three minutes from full-time.

There was huge frustration for Wellingborough Town as the fog denied them the chance to get back to winning ways.

The Doughboys led 1-0 at Boston Town thanks to Albert Akinremi’s first-half goal.

But the fog descended and with visibility poor, the game was abandoned after 68 minutes.

Ty Clark was the hero of the hour for Irchester United as he fired in four goals to lead them to a superb 6-1 victory over Oakham United at Alfred Street in Division One.

Clark continued his prolific form as he scored both goals to put the Romans 2-0 up at the break.

Strike partner Ryan Lovell chipped in with a brace to make it 4-0 and it was left to Clark to round things off as he grabbed the last two to help send Irchester into the top eight.

Elsewhere, it was a tough day for the local sides.

Thrapston Town were well beaten 6-2 by high-flying Bugbrooke at Chancery Lane, two soft goals saw Burton Park Wanderers go down 2-0 at Blackstones while bottom side Stewarts & Lloyds lost 4-0 to Long Buckby at Occupation Road.

It was a fine day for the local UCL Division One sides in the third round of the NFA Les Underwood Junior Cup.

Whitworth led the way in impressive fashion as they beat fellow league high-flyers Daventry Town 5-2 at London Road to book a place in the quarter-finals.

Charlie Fowler was the hero for Raunds Town as his second-half goal sealed a 1-0 success over Northants Combination Premier Division side Roade at Kiln Park.

And Rushden & Higham United joined their league rivals in the last eight as they saw off Silverstone 4-0 at Hayden Road.
