Desborough Town suffered their first defeat in 13 ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division matches as they went down 1-0 at Deeping Rangers.

Charlie Coulson’s late goal proved decisive as the hosts made it eight wins in a row.

There was disappointment also for Rothwell Corinthians as they were beaten 2-1 by Holbeach United at Sergeants Lawn.

All the goals came in the second half with Jordan Thomas and Jack Smith putting the visitors 2-0 up before Jordan Henson grabbed what proved to be only a consolation for Corinthians.

Wellingborough Town also tasted defeat as they lost 3-1 at Leicester Nirvana.

Abu Cisse, Suleiman Nassor and Celson Patrocinio were on target for the hosts while Jake Gillingwater struck for the Doughboys.

Raunds Town and Whitworth maintained their respective pushes for promotion in Division One.

Dave Townsend hit a hat-trick as the Shopmates ran out comfortable 6-0 winners at Woodford United while Nick Harrison (2) and Charlie Fowler added the others.

The Flourmen, meanwhile, did their damage in the first half as they avenged their defeat to Melton Town earlier this season with a 3-2 success at London Road.

Remy Brittain scored twice and Theo Alcindor struck to put Whitworth 3-0 up at the break. And they held on, despite second-half goals from Jordan Cufflin-Stableford and John Love.

The local derby at Occupation Road went the way of Irchester United as goals from Ty Clark and Dan Spaughton gave them a 2-0 success at rock-bottom Stewarts & Lloyds.

Burton Park Wanderers’ struggles continued as they were hammered 7-0 at leaders Olney Town, who had Christian Smail (3), Rob Macdonald (2) and Aaron Murrell (2) on target.

Jake Reynolds hit a hat-trick as Rushden & Higham United beat Towcester Town 4-1 in the second round of the NFA Junior Cup.

Thomas Martin added the other goal for the Lankies at Hayden Road.

But Thrapston Town were dumped out by Northants Combination side Corby Pegasus who triumphed 3-2 at Chancery Lane. Mason Thomas and Duncan Charles scored Thrapston’s goals.
