Charity is ‘appy with cash for app
A charity is preparing to launch a new free mobile phone app which raises awareness of the dangers of killer substances. The app, which reinforces the message that just because a substance is legal doesn’t mean it’s safe, has been developed by Kettering-based Solve It thanks to £5,000 of funding from the office of the county’s police and crime commissioner Adam Simmonds. According to latest figures, so-called ‘legal highs’ led to 68 deaths in England and Wales in 2012. The app, due for release this summer, will give information about the substances and advice of what to do if someone has taken a legal high.
