Several people have been in touch after finding out performances they had tickets for or shows their children were due to perform in had been cancelled.

Oskar White contacted the Northants Telegraph after finding out that Peter Pan by Rare Productions, which was set to run from today until June 25, had been cancelled.

He said: “The 60-odd young children had been rehearsing for 10 weeks and the day before their first show were told all shows would be cancelled.

“Tears, anger and shock were shown.

“It looks like Peter Pan won’t be flying anymore and the young people have not a stage to express their talents.”

David Barratt’s five-year-old daughter had been due to perform with the Emma Jayne School of Dance at The Castle.

However, after six months of rehearsals, they were told four days before the performance that it would no longer be going ahead.

Mr Barratt contacted the Northants Telegraph to say how angry and disappointed he was after there was an email from the administrator saying the performance had been cancelled.

He said: “To find another venue to host two performances in three days, then expect the parents to somehow reclaim their money (if possible) and purchase more tickets at another venue at £10 plus per ticket is incredible.

“But worse still will be having to tell my five-year-old daughter that her first big performance, the one she has worked so hard for and looked forward to for months, is cancelled.”
He said his heart went out to all the other parents who are in the same position as him and to the dance school for being unable to put on their show.

Another theatre-goer contacted the newspaper last night and said: “Just been informed of the cancellation of Tad Newton concert tomorrow night.

“It was going to be a full house.

“What is going on?”
