Regatta opened its store at Rushden Lakes in October 2020, creating five jobs at the time, but closing down signs have gone up in its windows.

A spokesman for Rushden Lakes told the Northants Telegraph: “We can confirm that Regatta is closing its Rushden Lakes store.

"We are supporting colleagues from Regatta in finding other suitable roles at Rushden Lakes with our Recruit Rushden programme, with one member of the team already securing a role with one of our on-site teams.

"We are also looking forward to announcing an exciting new brand for the store soon.”

Founded in 1981, Regatta is one of the UK’s most recognisable outdoor clothing brands for men’s, women’s and kidswear and offers camping and adventure essentials – from tents and sleeping bags to rucksacks and footwear.

But Regatta is not the first well-known brand to close its doors at the popular shopping centre.

New Look was among the first wave of shops to open at Rushden Lakes in July 2017, but closed its doors in January 2021.

It has since been replaced by Superdrug.

Other shops which are no longer trading there include Two Seasons, Jack Wills and Jigsaw.

Rushden Lakes celebrated its five-year anniversary this summer, with figures showing it has attracted 26 million visitors since opening and created more than 2,000 jobs for the local area.
