STORM DENNIS: Steelmen's main stand damaged as weekend football is decimated

It was worse news for Corby Town who were due to be playing North Leigh in the BetVictor Southern League Division One Central at Steel Park.

Hide AdIt was understood that the playing surface was fine but the Steelmen confirmed their match was called off because of healthy and safety reasons following damage caused to the roof of the main stand overnight.
A statement from the club on Twitter said: “Due to damage to the main stand roof overnight caused by Storm Dennis, today’s clash with North Leigh has been called off for health and safety reasons.
“Following discussions between the match referee, safety officer and club officials, it was decided that the game should be called off with the safety of all supporters and players in mind. Storm Dennis has caused the roof to bow and come loose.”
New dates for all three matches will now have to be confirmed while the Poppies return to action in midweek when they are due to host Hereford at Latimer Park.
