Ramshaw happy to see Poppies grind out a home success
The Poppies picked up their second home victory of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign as Rene Howe’s goal with 17 minutes remaining proved to be enough to seal a 1-0 win over Dorchester Town.
But the winner only came after the visitors had missed a penalty when Jake Smeeton smashed his spot-kick against the crossbar.

“Marcus and I were very pleased with it, especially because we ground out a victory which is something we have not been doing,” Ramshaw said.
“It was a gruelling game, it wasn’t pretty on the eye but we hung in there, everyone did their job and everyone did a professional job to get the win.
“The game was pretty even up until that point when they got the penalty.

“But we took advantage of it, got the goal and then we have seen it out.”
Ramshaw, meanwhile, was delighted to see Howe get the crucial goal.
The assistant-boss admitted both he and Law have been challenging the frontman to add more goals to his game and he was happy to see him deliver.

“But he knows as well as anyone that strikers are judged on the goals they get and we have been looking for him to get himself into the positions where can score them.
“He has got himself in there and got the winner for us and I am delighted because he is a smashing lad who works hard for the team.”
