Age is no barrier as top bowler Marje reaches her century
But, at the opposite end of the age spectrum, a lady is still playing the sport at the magnificent age of 100.
Kettering Lodge’s Marjorie Wright, who is better known as Marje, was given a special anniversary party at her club to mark the milestone. Around 90 members were on hand to help her celebrate.

She showed that she had a talent for the game as, in 1976, she represented the county at the National Championships at Royal Leamington Spa – the first of three visits there.
She also had success in the Over-60’s Singles at Torquay and, with the late George Wills, she saw success at Folkestone in the Indoor Mixed Fours.
In 2013 she was a member of her club’s indoor section ladies fours winning team was runner-up in the ladies indoor singles at the age of 97.

She and her late husband Len were very keen bowlers but they also worked hard for the club off the green too.
She is still a very keen and competitive bowler, often walking to the club from her home for a match and for her achievements and work, she was awarded Life Membership some years ago.
