UPDATED: More snow warnings as Northamptonshire faces big freeze to finish 2020

Weather watchers admit Northamptonshire could see some snow today, tomorrow or, Thursday .. or not at all!
A band of wintry weather is heading towards Northamptonshire from the north today and Met Office experts have already issued three warnings for wintry weather covering today, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Hide AdBut the only thing local forecasters say they can be sure of it is going to be a COLD end to year and start to 2021!
Jamie Dunlop, from @NNweather, admitted: "I think we’ll see some snow at some point through the next week or so, but pinning down the detail is tricky.
"There is a band of snow/sleet showers is moving moving south through the county this morning and 3°C will be feeling more like a bitterly cold -2°C in the northerly breeze.
"Most modles agree there’s a reasonable chance of a proper cold spell developing over the next week or two.

Hide Ad"Cold air with areas of precipitation popping up without much notice could lead to a surprise snowfall.
"This wintry period of weather is expected to last into the first part of January so further Met Office warnings are likely to be issued."
Today's warning for snow and ice expired at 10am but a second one warning of wintry weather moving up from the south kicks in at 10am tomorrow until 6am on New Year's Eve while a third for snow moving south down the country will be in force from 6pm on Wednesday until 10am on December 31.
A Met Office spokesman said: "An Atlantic frontal system looks likely to bring rain into parts of southwestern Britain on Wednesday with a chance of this rain turning to snow as this moves further east into colder air.

Hide Ad"The extent of any snow is very uncertain, but 2cms to 5cms could fall across a swathe of southern Wales, central and southern England.
"Snow arriving from the north later Wednesday, moving south through Thursday morning may lead to some travel disruption."
Northants Highways confirmed this lunchtime their gritters will be out from 6pm tonight with road surface temperatures expected to tumble to -3.7°C.
