Team behind Rushden's Christmas lights switch-on thanked for their efforts
Rushden’s countdown to Christmas kicked off on Saturday with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.
It followed a day of entertainment for all the family, including Santa arriving on his sleigh, reindeer, festive music and singing.

A spokesman for the town council said: “Once again we had a very successful light switch-on with hundreds of people attending the event.
“Our Christmas lights and decorations continue to improve year on year and this is because of the dedication and hard work of our councillors and volunteers.
“As a council we simply would not be able to afford to put on the events and displays we do without the time given freely by both councillors and volunteers.

“At a time when councils are being squeezed financially, it is reassuring that we have people in Rushden who are prepared to give their time freely to try and improve our town and create community spirit.
“A big thank you to all the councillors, volunteers, staff and participants who helped to make our Christmas event so successful and enjoyable for so many people.”
The town council has also thanked the Rotary Club and the Royal British Legion for their help and support with the road closures.
