Wellingborough protest in support of refugees hopes to build bridges not walls

Action groups will gather in Wellingborough tomorrow (Saturday) in support of refugees and to oppose the 'government's hostile environment and immoral and illegal proposals'.
The Solidarity Knows No Borders protest is part of a series of a national actions organised by Migrants Organise, a justice group for refugees and migrants.

Hide AdIndependent Socialists in Wellingborough (ISW) and Stand Up to Racism Northampton will be joining together for the Covid-compliant gathering quiet protest at midday.
Paul Crofts from ISW said: "There will be a protest in Wellingborough this Saturday at 12 noon in support of refugees and to oppose the government's hostile environment and immoral and illegal proposals.
"It will take place in Wellingborough town centre on the steps near the Pagoda opposite the Hind Hotel. The event has been risk assessed for Covid and precautionary measures to minimise risk of infection will be take."
People are being asked to bring banners or placards with statements such as 'Build Bridges not Walls' and 'No Human is Illegal' but protestors will not be allowed to shout slogans.

Hide AdAnyone attending wiil be asked to fill in trace and trace details, wear a face mask, use hand sanitser, adhere to the 2m rule, remain in social bubbles and bring their own placards.
