Some of the parks will have full refurbishments with others having additional equipment installed.

The council said the parks undergoing works are Kilborn Road, Bassetts Close park, Castlefields, Doddington Grange, Stanwell Open Space and Queensway.

Street furniture will also be assessed and replaced or repaired where required in each of these parks.

Leader of the council, Cllr Martin Griffiths, said: “Wellingborough is fortunate to have a large number of parks and recreation areas and we continue to invest and improve them.

"I am delighted that we have been able to give the council’s support to this exciting project that will help to improve the health and wellbeing of the younger members of our community, and provide them and, in time, their children with enjoyable play facilities and equipment for many years to come.”

Some areas of the parks will be closed off until the works are completed.
