MEET KGH's GOVERNORS: Learn about committee which works to ensure the health and well-being of all hospital staff

KGH s governor for East Northants has given an insight into the work of the hospital's 'People Committee.'

The governors at KGH have teamed up with the Northants Telegraph to give our readers an insight into their role and the work they do.

Sheila White, the governor representing East Northants, has written the latest in a series of pieces about the governors which we will be bringing to you in the coming weeks.

Here she is talking about the Kettering General Foundation Trust (KGH) People Committee.

Sheila told the Northants Telegraph: "From November 2020 I have been the governor representative on the KGH People Committee.

"Although I know a lot of the staff, this opportunity has enabled me to see the ‘other side of the story’.

"Primarily, the committee works to ensure the health and well-being of all the hospital staff and during the Covid pandemic this has been essential.

"Hot meals, quiet spaces for a break and somebody to talk to have been provided.

"KGH are now working co-operatively with Northampton General Hospital (NGH) and The People Committee is now a joint committee involving staff from both hospitals.

"This gives opportunity to share ideas, good practice and lessons learned about things that didn’t go so well.

"I exchange feedback with the KGH non-executive director who chairs the group.

"I am looking forward to observing this committee put ideas into place around staff recruitment, welcoming new members of staff, giving the opportunity to speak up and ensuring all

members of staff are treated equally.

"As a representative of the people in my constituency I am aware that if the staff are happy then good patient care is ensured."
