Suspected drugs offender gives himself up to police in Northampton after taking one look at PD Olly

A 20-year-old man was arrested yesterday (November 25) after officers witnessed what appeared to be a drug deal in Ross Road, Northampton.
The suspected drug deal took place at about 2.30pm and when the suspect saw a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), he got onto his bike and cycled off at speed.

Hide AdMore officers were deployed to the scene including PD Olly and his handler.
A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said: “When the suspect became aware of PD Olly’s presence, he got off his bike and gave himself up to officers. Didn’t even bother trying to run away!”
PD Olly then tracked where the suspect was seen discarding something and a quantity of wraps suspected to be crack cocaine were discovered.
The 20-year-old Northampton man was promptly arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Hide AdHe has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Northamptonshire Neighbourhood Police, tweeting about the incident, said: “We wouldn’t fancy ourselves in a race with PD Olly either to be fair…”
