A man who allegedly spat at a police officer in Northampton and claimed he was infected with coronavirus has appeared in court.
Jamie Tidy, 31, formerly of Farmfields Court, was arrested on Sunday morning (March 29) after police were called to an alleged assault.

Hide AdBut in a tweet by a Northampton response team (@NNResponseTeam2), officers claimed that Tidy spat at them during the arrest while claiming he had the Covid-19 virus.
Today (March 30), Tidy appeared at Northampton Magistrate's Court charged with common assault on an emergency worker, obstructing a constable in the execution of duty, criminal damage and commotion of a further offence.
He was remanded into custody for an additional court hearing in June at magistrates' court.
