A man has been sentenced for exposing himself outside a Northampton town centre restaurant before assaulting three people and spitting on a police officer.

Mark Miller, previously of West Cotton Close, was arrested on July 24 after the incident at a restaurant on Bridge Street.

Northampton Magistrate's Court heard in February how the 39-year-old was drunk when he indecently exposed himself to a number of people on the town centre street before trying force his way into a restaurant.

He was challenged for his behaviour by members of the public, he assaulted two men with punches and kicks before slapping a woman in the face.

When officers arrived to arrest him, he assaulted them too and spat at them.

At court on February 24, he was handed an 18-month community order and handed a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
